1994년 한겨레신문사 내 출판부에서 단행본 출간을 시작한 이후 2006년 별도 법인인 한겨레출판(주)으로 독립해 본격적으로 출판 사업에 뛰어들었다. 이후 현재까지 총 1,300여 종의 책을 펴내며 한국의 출판계를 이끌어가는 중견 출판사로 자리잡았다. 2021년 (주)한겨레교육과 합병을 통해 (주)한겨레엔으로 거듭나면서 교육과 출판의 시너지를 통한 제2의 도약을 모색하고 있다.

한겨레출판은 소설, 에세이, 인문교양, 정치사회 분야를 비롯해 과학, 실용 분야까지 다양한 책들을 출간하고 있으며, 마음챙김, 종교 분야 책들을 주로 펴내는 ‘휴’, 자기계발, 만화, 영화 분야에 주력하는 ‘씨네21북스’ 브랜드를 함께 운영하고 있다. 또한 어린이책 브랜드 ‘한겨레아이들’은 유아~초등학생을 대상으로 한 동화, 논픽션, 옛이야기 등 다양한 책을 펴내왔다.

인문·사회과학 분야는 홍세화, 한홍구, 박노자 등 대한민국을 대표하는 저자들을 필두로, 지금까지 우리의 현재를 돌아보고 미래를 전망하는 책들을 꾸준히 펴내고 있으며, 올해로 27회를 맞은 ‘한겨레문학상’은 박민규, 심윤경, 장강명, 강화길, 박서련 등 한국 문학을 이끌어가는 주요 작가들을 배출하는 등용문이 되고 있다.
앞으로도 한겨레출판은 시대의 변화를 이끄는 책들을 펴내며, 한국 사회와 그 구성원들의 행복한 미래를 함께 꿈꾸어 갈 것이다.

Hankyoreh Publishing Co. started as a publishing Department within Hankyoreh newspaper in 1994. After that, Publishing Dept. became independent from the newspaper and established Hankyoreh Publishing Co., a separate corporation, in 2006. Now the company developed into a publishing house that deals with books in various fields. Also we have published a total of 1,300 books so far, and have become a mid-sized firm that leads the Korean publishing market. In 2021, Hankyoreh Publishing Co. merged with Hankyoreh Education Co., and was reborn as Hankyoreh En. We are trying to make the second leap through the synergy of education and publishing.

Hankyoreh En publishes a wide variety of books, from political society, novels, essays, humanities books to science and practical books. the company runs "Hugh," which mainly publishes books on religion, ecology and meditation, and "Cine21Books," which focuses on self-development, comics and movies. “Hankyoreh Children”, a children's book brand, has published books on children's stories, nonfiction, and old stories for preschooler and elementary schoolchild.

Hong Se-hwa, Han Hong-gu and Park No-ja are the representative writers of the Republic of Korea and the authors of Hankyoreh En. With them at the forefront, We publish books by various writers who look back on our present and look forward to the future.
‘The Hankyoreh Literature Award’, which marks its 27th anniversary in 2022, became the gateway for young writers to debut and produced writers who will lead the Korean literature such as Park Mingyu, Shim Yoon-kyung, Jang Kang-myung, Choi Jin-young, Kang Hwa-gil.
Hankyoreh En will continue to publish books that give insight into the times and create social changes. Also, we will become colleagues who dream of a happy future together with the members of Korean society.
